About Michael Hofmeyer
I trained in Australia and also in Florence under an Italian master goldsmith. The Italian jewellery aesthetic has been a major influence in my work where I keep experimenting adapting these traditional techniques to very contemporary designs.
I aim at creating inventive, expressive and wearable work and craft unique pieces combining and using a variety of materials such as titanium, palladium, mokume-gane, gold, platinum sterling silver and selected high quality gems.
As a maker and designer, my work mostly includes rings, brooches, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and cufflinks I also welcome opportunities to create special mementos or small objects for corporate clients.
The distinctive geometry of gem crystals, with their inner quiet power and natural beauty, has inspired my latest work .
In my custom made work I combine workmanship and ethical, eco-friendly manufacturing practices using recycled gold and conflict-free, fair-trade diamonds and rough diamonds certified in accordance with the Kimberley Process — an international agreement supported by the UN.
I like working on new collections and travel with exhibitions of my new designs.
I create personalized engagement rings and wedding bands and other custom made jewellery and also remodel old jewellery into new, personally special pieces.
My jewellery studio, where I display and retail a range of ready-made pieces, is located in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia). The studio/workshop setting also allows my clients the opportunity to discuss the design and follow the crafting process.
Gemstones have been especially cut from high quality material, sourced from around the world.
